Introduction

In this course Introduction to Linguistics, I had the opportunity to acquire new knowledge that helps me to know more about the linguistics world. We learned about different components of linguistics to know more of how humans acquire language and the development of the English Language through history. Also, we used technological techniques that improve our knowledge and created a new way of learning.

Digital Dictionary

In the first assignment, we create a digital dictionary of linguistics terms that helps us to understand in a better way the linguistics world. Language Universals

The topic was about language universals. First, we answered what is language universals, and which are they? I learned that language universals is when the languages share similar characteristics or have characteristics in common. 

The fields that linguistics studies.

We made a jigsaw that was about the different fields that linguistics studies as phonology, phonetics, syntax, morphology, semantics and pragmatic. This was a different way to introduce a class, I think that called our attention and motivated us to do a great job.  

The Greatest Period in the History of the English Language

We made a forum about the Greatest Period in the History of the English Language. Where we analyzed and discussed these questions:  Some historians say that the English language grew up the most during the Modern English period. Do you agree? From what period did the English language receive the most visible influence to become what it is nowadays? Also, it created in each student a way to defend their point of view, which is critical thinking.

Different Periods in the History of the English Language

Roleplay First, we made groups where each one had to represent through a roleplay one period of the English Language. The rest of the class had to figure out what was the period that presented. Timeline Using Tiki Toki, we created an innovative and creative timeline with different main aspects of the period. Language Acquisition and Development

In this topic, we read a material provided for the professor, in groups we answered the questions that were in the document and finally, we made a debate in the class where we share information and ideas about language acquisition and development. For me, Language acquisition is the process when human recognized and use a language, and Language development is a process when the children understand and communicate a language.
